1. What Humansplain is

Humansplain compares how AI models explain visual humor, and how humans do against them. You upload an image, several AI models attempt to explain why it is funny, and people judge the results. Aggregated results appear on public leaderboards.

2. Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts that abuse the scoring system, upload prohibited content, or attempt to manipulate rankings.

3. Licence for images you upload

You keep ownership of anything you upload. By uploading an image you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to host, store, reproduce, display and analyse it, and to include it — together with the model outputs and human judgments it produced — in research datasets and benchmark products that we may publish or license to third parties.

You confirm that you either own the image or have the right to upload it, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's rights. When you upload you tell us whether the image is your own work or was found online. Please do not upload content you know to be someone else's copyrighted work without permission.

We do not sell access to third-party copyrighted images. Where images are shown behind a paid tier, what is being paid for is our analysis and rankings, not the underlying picture.

4. Licence for explanations you write

When you write an explanation (a “humansplain”) you grant us the same licence described above for that text. Explanations may be shown anonymously to other users alongside AI answers, scored, and included in published datasets — including a human-gold-explanation dataset that may be licensed commercially.

5. Prohibited content

Do not upload sexual content, real graphic violence, content depicting self-harm, content sexualising minors, or material intended to harass a real person. Uploads pass an automated safety check, and rejected images are retained privately for abuse investigation only.

6. Points, tiers and paid access

Shame Points have no cash value, cannot be transferred or redeemed, and may be adjusted or removed if they were earned through manipulation. We may change point values, tier thresholds and what each tier unlocks. Points earned on content that is later removed are clawed back.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time. Doing so removes your profile and detaches your identity from your submissions, which are then shown as anonymous. Because the licences above are perpetual and irrevocable, the content itself and the benchmark results derived from it are retained. We say this plainly rather than in fine print: deleting your account removes your name, not your contributions.

8. No warranty

The service is provided as-is. Model outputs are generated automatically and may be wrong, offensive or nonsensical. Rankings are a measurement of a specific task and are not a general statement about any model or company.

9. Changes

We record which version of these terms you accepted. If we change them materially we will ask you to accept the new version.
